Here’s how you can get started.
Step #1: Sign Up for an Account
From the homepage, click the Try It Free button and work your way through registration. You will be asked to enter your name, email address, and password. You’ll have to confirm your email after.
Once that’s out of the way, it’s time to set up your first campaign. Raven Tools will walk you through that process.
First, it will ask that you enter the website you want to optimize. It will also ask how knowledgeable you are when it comes to SEO.
Note: Raven Tools will ask for a phone number to contact you but you can leave it blank.
The next step will ask you to describe the nature of your business. After that, you’ll have the option of connecting your Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.
Finally, you can select which task you’d like Raven Tools to prioritize for the day.
You can skip this step and head straight for the dashboard.
Step #2: Explore the Dashboard
The dashboard is the heart of your campaign. Here, you can see every detail about your domain’s overall SEO health.
One of Raven Tool’s cooler features is the ability to customize the dashboard. That means you can add or remove metrics as you see fit. You can even add your logo if you’d like.

Step #4: Perform Keyword Research
Next, you might want to perform keyword research to know which words and phrases to target. Head on over to Keyword Research Central which you’ll find under Keyword Research.
After entering your seed term, you can set what information you want to display.
- Summary — Provides statistics and search volume trends about the keyword you entered.
- Competitors — Lets you know which domains and pages are closely tied to your seed keyword.
- Search Volume — Displays keyword variations of the seed term you entered.
If you find keywords that interest you, you can tick each candidate and use Bulk Actions to add them to the SERP Tracker or the Keyword Manager.
The Keyword Manager is a great place to store your list of target keywords. It keeps your list well-organized for future use.
Step #5: Do Competitor Research
You can also look at some of your competitors to get a better sense of what their strategy currently is.
Under Competitor Research, you’ll have three options:
- Competitor Manager — Displays your competitor’s SEO, social, and site metrics.
- Site Performance — Uses the information found on Competitor Manager to directly compares it to your domain’s data. You can compare metrics against two competitors.
- Competitor Research Central — Works almost the same way as Keyword Research Central only this feature focuses on gathering competitor data. You simply have to enter any domain to get information about their SEO health.
Step #6: Build Your Backlinks
You will find all link building features under Link Building in the sidebar.

The SERP Tracker which you’ll find under Rank Tracking monitors your progress on search engines. It will let you know if your pages rank for the terms that you set out to target.

Use the Content Manager to draft and optimize your content. You will find it under Manage Content.
