You start your journey by creating a campaign. All campaigns are clearly labeled and explained. All you need to do is pick one that’s appropriate for your website.
LinkHunter will automatically find domains you could contact based on your site’s niche. Just enter up to three topics and the tool will find people who post content about them.
Even better, LinkHunter can find your prospect’s name and email address if they’re readily available.
You can send emails directly from LinkHunter. All you have to do is connect it to your email service provider.
You can also get in touch through the prospect’s contact form which you can fill out through LinkHunter.
You can create and save email templates so you don’t have to draft an email from scratch every time you try to connect with your prospect.
You can also create templates for your follow-up emails. These are used whenever prospects fail to reply to your initial email.
How to Use LinkHunter
Truthfully, LinkHunter is so easy to use, the process is pretty much self-explanatory. Anyone—and we mean anyone—can sign up and get rolling in a matter of minutes.
Let us walk you through LinkHunter so you can see what we mean.
Step #1: Sign Up for an Account
There are only three steps involved in registering an account. It involves entering your personal and credit card information. There is a free trial period. That means LinkHunter won’t charge your account until the trial expires.
Step #2: Start a Campaign
Once you’re in, you’ll find the main dashboard. LinkHunter looks underwhelming at this point. But that’s only because you’ve yet to start a campaign.
Click Create a New Campaign to start one.
From here, you’ll have several campaign options. Select the right type of campaign to execute based on your goals. If you don’t know which one to go for, you can click Help Me Choose and watch the explainer video.
As you can see, LinkHunter does a great job of explaining the types of campaigns you could launch. It clearly lays out what each plan does and what you could achieve with it.
Let’s go through all the available campaigns.
Guest Post on Other Sites
Here you can find sites within your industry and contact them for guest posting. Selecting this campaign option will bring up a form.
You’ll need to fill this out starting with the Campaign Name. You can name this anything you want but to make life easier for yourself, name it after the type of sites you intend to target.
Next, fill in the Topic fields. These could be keywords or the niche of the market you’re after. If you’re in the mobile phone business, then adding topics like smartphones, Android, and cameras would make sense.
Don’t forget to specify what country you’d like these sites to come from. The default option is Worldwide but you can narrow it down to a specific region.
There’s an optional field called Campaign Group that’s used for organizing your campaigns.
Once you’re ready, click Next.
In the example below, we used on-page optimization, link building, and keyword research as our topics to find SEO domains that accept guest posts.
These are the results.
It’ll take a couple of minutes for LinkHunter to populate the list. But once it’s done, you can explore the results.
On top of the list are three tabs: Prospects, Contacted, and Trash. Use these to cycle through your list based on your progress. Prospects are sites that you’ve yet to contact. Contacted are the ones you’ve already reached out to. And Trash is where deleted leads end up in.
Just below that are your filter options. You can sort the list by relevance, authority score, or by name (alphabetical).
Note that there’s a toggle called Email Address Found. Turning this one will remove entries that LinkHunter did not find emails for. Yes, on top of finding leads, LinkHunter can also look for a domain’s contact information. Neat, right?
Below that are the leads that LinkHunter found. Each entry has an authority score ranging from 1 to 100. This number comes from SEMrush. The higher the score, the higher the impact your backlinks will have on your site.
KWs represent how many keywords the domain ranks for on search engines.
Clicking on any of the entries will let you compose an email right from LinkHunter.
You also have the option of sending your prospects a message through their contact form instead.
You can compose an email from scratch. But given how many prospects you’d want to send messages to, it’s better if you use a template instead.
You can insert a template by clicking Insert Email Template. Even if you didn’t prepare one, LinkHunter will have templates waiting for you. It will automatically fill in details like your name or leave blanks for you to fill up.
Picking the email template type will change the tone of the email to reflect your personality or branding.
You can use Dynamic Fields to automatically fill in details like the recipient’s name, domain, and URL.
By the way, you can preview the site you’re contacting by scrolling below the email field.
Once you’re done, you’re ready to start sending your emails. If you haven’t connected LinkHunter with your email provider, you can do so by clicking Connect Email.
Have Bloggers Review Your Products
This campaign is for finding bloggers who might want to review your product in exchange for a link.
The process is similar to the one for guest posts. There are two main differences though. We noticed that even though we used the same topics, the results now show domains that do product reviews. Also, the built-in email templates now reflect our intent to send products for review.
Pay a Blogger to Write About You
If needed, you can also reach out to bloggers and offer money in exchange for a backlink. For the most part, the process is the same as the one detailed above.
Do note that the practice of paying bloggers for links is not only frowned upon in the SEO community, but it also goes against Google’s guidelines. You could get penalized once caught.
Promote Your Content to Blogs
Ask influencers to promote your content on their blogs and social media accounts.
Get Links from Resource Pages
If you want to get a backlink from resource pages, this is the campaign you’d want to start.
Use Your Own Prospecting Queries
This campaign is for advanced users with a working knowledge of advanced search operators. You can set your own prospecting queries to find the right kind of domains for your link building strategy.
Otherwise, the process is the same.
Import a List of URLs
Here you can provide LinkHunter your own list of prospects and contact them through it. This is handy for those of you who already gathered leads from a previous link building campaign.
Step #3: Send Your Emails and Monitor Your Progress
After finding your leads and drafting the emails, you can now send your emails. After sending your email, you can monitor your progress.
To check your emails, head on over to the Contacted tab. Here, you’ll have several options.
On the left-hand side of the window, you’ll find the status of each person you got in touch with. A recipient could have one of four labels:
- Contacted — You’ve successfully reached out to the prospect.
- Followed Up — The prospect did not reply so a follow-up email was sent.
- Responded — The prospect replied to your email.
- Link Acquired — You received a backlink from the prospect.
Clicking each prospect will bring up the email history between you and the recipient. You can review your email exchange and reply using the field provided.
You can also update the status based on how much progress you’ve made.
LinkHunter offers three pricing plans: Starter ($49/month), Small Business ($99/month), and Agency ($199/month).
The main differences between these plans are the number of new prospects that LinkHunter adds to your list and emails you could send per month.
There’s also a difference in the metrics used to assess the prospect’s domain. The Starter uses Moz while Small Business adds SEMrush metrics.

LinkHunter Review: Pros and Cons
You have plenty of reasons to love LinkHunter but it’s not without its flaws. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of using LinkHunter as your primary link building tool.
Pro: LinkHunter Is Beginner-Friendly
As we’ve repeatedly mentioned, anyone can pick up LinkHunter and start a campaign in minutes. You don’t need help from professional link builders. You can do content promotion in a few clicks.
Not all link building tools can send outreach emails. So if that’s your main focus right now, LinkHunter is the perfect partner for you.
Con: LinkHunter Can’t Send Mass Emails
From what we’ve seen, you’d have to send emails one by one. Sure, having email templates means you can do it quickly. But still — it would have been nice to send outreach emails en masse.
Although you can also argue that having to review each email and customizing it to fit each prospect is a good thing.
Pro: LinkHunter Finds Your Prospect’s Contact Information
While this feature isn’t unique to LinkHunter, the speed at which you could get your prospect’s contact details is astonishing. As soon as you draft an email, the email address is already there waiting. All you have to do is load up your template and hit send.
Con: LinkHunter’s SEMrush Metrics Are Only Available in Small Business Plan
The Starter plan uses Moz metrics and only adds SEMrush metrics when you upgrade to the Small Business plan. It’s an odd distinction to make between the two options.
The metrics are an important part of LinkHunter since it allows you to determine which prospects are worth going after. So it would have been better, in our opinion, if all the metrics are available right off the bat.
Pro: LinkHunter Has No Cap on How Many Prospects You Can Have on Your List
You can continue adding prospects on your list every month. This is great since you can download your list at any time and save it for future reference.
Con: LinkHunter Has a Cap on How Many Outreach Emails You Can Send Per Month
Yeah, there’s no cap on how many prospects you can add to your list. But you won’t be able to contact all of them.
Depending on what plan you go for, you can only send emails to a maximum of 500, 2,000, or 5,000 of them per month.
We really like this product.
Despite its limitations, we could see a lot of SEOs and marketers using this to secure high-quality backlinks.
There’s even an application outside of link prospecting. For example, bloggers can use this to reach out to fellow bloggers purely for content promotion. If you’re just looking to grow your presence among relevant websites, LinkHunter is good for that too.
